What do Green Bay winters do to a concrete driveway?
Road salt is the main enemy. Crews spread it on streets, and cars carry it home on their tires. It dries on the garage apron as a white or gray film. Over time, salt and melting snow work into the surface. When that water freezes, it expands, and the top layer can flake. Small cracks widen after a few freeze-thaw cycles.
Washing does not repair concrete, but it removes the salt crust and the grit that holds moisture against the slab. Some homeowners in cold climates wash in spring and again in fall. Other common problems here include green algae in shaded spots, rust marks from metal furniture or fertilizer, and oil drips under parked cars. Some stains lift fully, some fade, and some are in the concrete for good. We will tell you which is which before we start.
